“ Yesterday, I decided to stop by Huskey's in Charleston for lunch. I hadn't been there in several years. I used to love this place and the little girl who always took your order was so adorable. When I was getting out of my car, I joked to myself, "That little girl is probably 35 with a mortgage now." When I walked in, it was if time had stood still. Yet another generation of young children taking your order with such efficiency and professionalism. I, personally, think this is wonderful. When my son was that age, he couldn't do the things that these kids do. The little boy who took my order rocked. I got two English dogs, an order of fried mushrooms, and a large drink for $14. They give you TWELVE fried mushrooms by the way. How many other restaurants give you that many? I was tickled to death that their menu hadn't changed because I was always a huge fan. The hot dogs were beautiful displayed and the buns were perfectly buttered. The chili was flavorful and the slaw was so sweet and fine. I savored every bite. Huskey's has good, tasty hot dogs - plain and simple. Nice, clean, not sloppy. You're not gonna have to worry about getting more chili on your blouse than in your mouth. It's just a quiet, family-vibe experience and, sometimes, that is exactly what you need on a Friday afternoon. As I got up, full-bellied, I spotted a young lady out of the corner of my eye. I'd like to think it was the little girl who always took my order years ago. And she still looked pretty young, which made me feel better about time and feel not so Crypt Keeperish...like I'm the Hot Dog Crypt Keeper or something. ”

“ Best hot dogs and fries in the state! Huskey's Always serves the food "HOT"...not lukewarm or cold like most other fast food restaurants seem to excel in doing. A hot dog, burger or fries are simply not worth eating if they aren't served HOT, even if the ingredients are of good quality. So HORRAH, for Huskey's Always serving HOT&FRESH quality food. Thank you. ”

“ Best place to get ice cream. Great management and customer service. Only complaint is I wish they had a location in Hurricane. We go here almost weekly in the summer. Raspberry Fudge ice cream is the AWESOME! ”

“ Such a dive. But the food is great. $6 double cheese burger is a goto. The Philly cheese steak is the closest Charleston has to the real thing. Ice cream is heaped high on the cone. Worth the $4 for a large. ”

“ Little hole in the wall mom and pop joint, that serves up hotdogs and the garden variety of concession style foods. They also offer Hershey's ice cream and milkshakes. We enjoyed cheese fries that are some of the best in town (if you prefer the cheese sauce style, as opposed to the melted cheese that's most common) The hotdogs come in English or traditional style buns and I enjoy their steamed chili cheese dogs the best. If your inclined towards the WV style hotdog, they are a little on the bland side, but throw some salt and pepper on those puppies and they're a consistent go to option. If your adventurous try the pulled pork ok an English style bun; tasty and convenient for when your in a hurry. ”

“ I used to go to Huskey's Dairy Bar a lot growing up with my family. I was very pleased to see it was still open when I passed it a few times. While out doing errands one day, I got a little hungry and decided to stop to get a hot dog. I went up to the dairy window and the lady looked hot and tired but she smiled and took my order. It was a younger oriental lady who was very pleasant. I ordered a hot dog with everything with light mustard ( some people are just to heavy on that French's masterpiece) and she said $1.83 please...that is a good price for one dog... I went back to my car and I barely got there when she motioned me back to the window for my lunch. The dog was very good. The chili was great and the slaw was wonderful. I would definitely eat here again. I noticed a small dining room near the back of the building, might opt to dine in one time. I will definitely be here again. It is close to my home and the hot dog was YUMMY....!!! I recommend...leave me your opinion once you try it out. ”

“ This is the original Huskey's location, originally owned and operated by the mother/in-law of the owners of Lil Huskey's right by my childhood home. I can't imagine that she still operates it, and if I had to guess I'd say it has probably passed hands down the family by now. It looks a lot like a classic, old Dairy Queen, but more authentic and original...because it is. If you'd like to see more details on my thoughts of Huskey's, see my incredibly lengthy review of the other location. For this one, I'll summarize by saying, it is in a less visited part of town, has a retro feel to it (cuz it's that old), and would probably be more of a hot spot if you could pick it up and move it to a more relevant neighborhood. ”
